昨天某同学部署在我服务器上的网站 bartholomew.cf 突然上不去了，访问不是提示 502 错误就是跳转到 Freenom 的页面（大肆宣传 Freenom DNS）。
一开始以为服务器又出了什么事情，SSH 上看看好像没什么异常。再看 Cloudflare，昨天晚上开始流量为 0 了，意识到事情不对……

登上 Freenom 域名管理的后台，神奇的事情发生了……

之前注册的 bartholomew.cf 域名居然凭空消失？？？
没有任何提醒，既没有发邮件，用户后台也没有任何消息，就好像从来不曾注册过这个域名一样。

应该是注册域名的时候注册的是一年，现在时间到了，尝试重新注册域名，更神奇的一幕发生了：

注册域名的页面，bartholomew.cf 居然被重新标价为 9.95 美刀……（这个定价比市面上 .com 和 .cn 都贵了！！）

原来 Freenom 的套路是：免费使用域名一年，一年到了就自动退回域名，想要继续使用就要付钱……（我记得注册的时候承诺过到期免费无限续费的吧？？！）
这个套路玩得真可以，正常情况下一年精心照料自己的博客，搜索引擎已经基本抓取了这个博客的大多页面，甚至可能博客链接被很多地方引用，现在域名没收意味着之前做的 SEO 和链接的引用全部作废……（甚至不让你 301 重定向保留搜索引擎的权重）（可怜的 Vanququ）

于是研究了一番用户协议：

5. Failure to transfer out of Free Domain.
   If you terminate your use of FREE DOMAIN and this agreement pursuant to section 11.3 and do not transfer out of FREE DOMAIN in accordance with the provisions set forth in section 11.3 or upgrade to one of our paid services, you agree that any and all of your right, title and interest in and to the domain name provided to you pursuant to this agreement will be forfeited to Freenom, and that we may hold, cancel, sell, transfer or otherwise assign or dispose of the domain name at our discretion.

意思是域名到期了没有转出域名（？？？）或者升级付费服务，则表示您同意 Freenom 没收这个域名的所有权益，并且 Freenom 有权自由处置这个域名……balabala……

嗯，另一个同学的 captainslow.cf 等到 22/07/2020 也要到期了……抓紧买个付费的正常域名吧……

免费的才是最昂贵的。
